The Hermione is a French warship in service from 1779 to 1793. It is a frigate of 12 (in reference to the caliber of its guns) carrying 26 guns of 12 pounds and 8 additional guns of 6 pounds. In naval jargon it is called "frigate of 26 guns", although originally it carried 34. It is part of the frigates of the Concorde class, built from 1777 to the arsenal of Rochefort.
She is known to have led for her second voyage the Marquis of La Fayette in the United States in 1780, allowing her to join the American insurgents in struggle for their independence.
